Post Oak Savannah

POS1

One of the finest group of young musicians I’ve ever heard! That’s my boy in the middle. I was honored to play steel guitar and banjo on their album recorded at Siesta Ranch Studio. Check this YouTube Video for “I Miss You” and this one for “Sixteen Miles“.

A fine dobro player and great man! I will miss him!

A fine dobro player and great man! I will miss him!

I received word yesterday that one of my students passed away. Eldon enjoyed playing dobro and was a fine man.  He was known to bring Debbie and I a sack of pecans and even a few catfish filet from Cooper Lake.  I will miss his stories of his railroad days and his enthusiasm for the dobro.  RIP Eldon.

East Texas State University Alumni

I attended East Texas State University in the 70’s and 80’s, graduating in 1982.  In 1976, Dr. Stuart Anderson was instrumental in bringing the First Annual Bluegrass festival to ETSU.  During the banjo competition, I won the contest by playing a tune Dr. Anderson taught me on the banjo, “Sailor’s Hornpipe”.  1976ETSU_Champ

Recently, the university, now Texas A&M Commerce, decided to honor the alumni by selling bricks for the alumni garden.  Here is a picture of my brick in the garden.
